New Website Launch: A Digital Revival for Mayan Language Preservation
The power of the digital world is amazing. It opens endless possibilities for preserving and sharing vast amounts of knowledge. That’s why we are extremely excited to share that the Preservation and Digitization Project website is coming along brilliantly. Developed in partnership with the MasterWord Institute, this platform is an open source, comprehensive glossary aimed at preserving and promoting our languages in digital format.
This project was created for the people and by the people. We are a community-driven space for Mayan language professionals and scholars to share research, resources, and linguistic knowledge. Together, we can raise the voices of our communities by creating accessible and essential resources for education, healthcare, community services, law, and more.

Recent Trips to Guatemala: Laying the Groundwork for the Kaqchikel UNESCO Presentation
During a recent trip to Guatemala, our Director, Dr. Winston Scott, and community leader and MLPP board member and collaborator, Baldomero Cuma, prepared a joint presentation for the Language Technology for All conference in Paris, France. Baldomero’s presentation will be historic as it will be delivered in Kaqchikel Mayan, bringing attention to the ongoing need for the preservation and recognition of Mayan languages at an international level.
This trip also allowed us to connect with local friends, language experts, and community leaders, helping to strengthen our bonds with the people whose voices and languages are at the heart of this preservation project. Together we lay the foundation for future advocacy.
